Shave The Date For Our Movember Cross Stitch

Hey guys! Hope everyone is well as we’re creeping in closer to Christmas. Of course, it’s over halfway through Movember. That means we’ve only had the Christmas music and decorations up in public spaces for nearly two months now. And we all probably should have started our Christmas Cross Stitch projects that long ago as well.

There will be some updates later this week, and a release of several new patterns at the end of the week to both the StitchYaWitch Etsy store and the website. I’m really excited about these ones; we’ve had some wee elves helping to stitch away at them to make sure they’re in tip top shape!

Save a Bro, Grow a Mo’

In my last blog post I mentioned that November/Movember has a pretty big meaning here in New Zealand (and presumably other areas of the world too, but I’m not completely sure). We get pretty into growing out our moustaches in the name of men’s health month. More specifically, raising awareness around men’s mental health and suicide, and early detection of prostate and testicular cancer.

It’s a really good cause and makes for some interesting people watching towards the end of Movember when the mo’s are really starting to come into their own. Let me know if you’re in the process of growing your own ‘mo for the occasion, I’d love to see it! Unfortunately, my mo’ leaves something to be desired so I wanted to help spread awareness in some other small way.

Movember Free Cross Stitch Pattern

Meanwhile, I’ve made an extra free pattern this month, to celebrate Movember and men’s health. It’s very much all about the moustaches, and if you download and take it on, I’d really love to see your creations! It is the perfect canvas for making your own changes and coming up with something truly unique to celebrate the mighty moustache. Feel free to pass it on to your friends as well if they might be interested!

Even if Movember is all about men’s health, that doesn’t mean your Cross Stitch has to be! If there’s a particular mo’ in the bunch you like better than all the rest, single it out and stitch it alone. In fact, I am very (VERY) partial to my pastels myself. I’ve used a lovely blush evenweave linen with a cranberry thread colour theme. For the pattern PDF itself I have specified blacks and blues (as is fitting with the Movember theme), but you are by no means chained to those colours. Go crazy! Open that thread storage and have a play around.
